Science Teacher
I am a proud graduate of Springhill High School in Springhill, Louisiana, Class of 1994. After high school, I pursued my higher education at Southern Arkansas Universiery in Magnolia, Arkansas, where I graduated with the Class of 2005. My time at SAU helped shape my passion for science and education, providing me with the foundation to inspire and impart knowledge to future generations.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry, combining my passion for the sciences with a strong educational foundation. As a certified teacher with the Arkansas Department of Education (ADOE), I am Secondary Certified in 7-12 Science and Highly Qualified in all content areas. Additionally, I am Level 2 Certified with the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), holding Secondary Certification in Biology, Chemistry, and Earth Science. My diverse certification background allows me to bring a well-rounded, interdisciplinary approach to science education, helping students connect concepts across multiple scientific fields.
I have been teaching at NWHS since 2017, and I’m proud to call this my hometown. Before the schools consolidated and became the Knights, I was a dedicated lumberjack, deeply connected to the community and its traditions. My passion for science led me to a career in education, where I have the privilege of teaching Chemistry and Anatomy & Physiology. I love helping students explore the wonders of the natural world, understand the complexities of the human body, and develop a deeper appreciation for scientific inquiry. Watching my students grow and succeed is one of the most rewarding parts of my job, and I am honored to be part of their journey.
From 2005 to 2011, I taught in the Magnolia Public School District, working in the Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) program, where I provided instruction in all core content areas for students in grades 7-12. This role allowed me to develop a versatile teaching approach, adapting to diverse learning needs and helping students overcome academic challenges. In addition to my work in ALE, I also taught Biology, Physical Science, and Algebra II, further expanding my expertise across multiple disciplines.
After my time in Magnolia, I transitioned to North Caddo Magnet High School, where I specialized in teaching Biology and Chemistry. My experience there deepened my passion for the sciences and reinforced my commitment to fostering curiosity and critical thinking in my students. Eventually, I made the move to North Webster, bringing with me a wealth of experience and a dedication to helping students succeed in STEM education.
My husband and I have been happily married for close to 30 years, building a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, we have four wonderful children and are blessed with four amazing grandchildren who bring so much joy to our lives. Our home wouldn’t be complete without our beloved dogs—Ko Ko, our miniature dachshund, and Bubba, our spirited chi-weenie—who keep us entertained with their playful personalities. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I cherish every moment spent with those I love.
Outside of the classroom, I have a deep appreciation for the outdoors and hands-on learning. I enjoy gardening, fishing, camping, and trail riding—activities that allow me to connect with nature and unwind. Spending time with my family is especially important to me, and I cherish every opportunity to create lasting memories with them. When I’m not teaching, I’m always looking for new things to learn, whether it’s exploring science, expanding my skills, or diving into new interests. Lifelong learning is a passion of mine, and I believe that curiosity and growth are essential in both my personal and professional life.
